⁣In an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “fucking terrorist” and raised concerns about claims by former President Trump about ending the war in Ukraine “within 24 hours.”

President Zelesnkyy cast doubt on Trump’s claims, saying he would only need 24 minutes “to explain to President Trump that he can’t manage this war.” Zelenskyy also said that if Trump is willing not to give up Ukraine’s independence and territory, an end to the war is not going to happen. Zelenskyy also invited President Trump to visit Ukraine.

When asked if he thinks President Trump would have Ukraine’s back if reelected, Zelenskyy replied, “I really don’t know. I hope that it depends not only on the president institutionally but that it depends on the opinions of Americans in your society.”

⁣Addressing attendees at the Xiangshan Forum, China’s premier military diplomacy event, Shoigu expressed concern over NATO’s intentions in the region. He suggested that the alliance, led by the US, is camouflaging its “buildup of military force in the Asia-Pacific region with an ostentatious desire for dialogue.” He also addressed the emergence of groups like the Quad and AUKUS as potential threats to regional entities such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and nuclear non-proliferation initiatives in Asia. Shoigu said, “The concept of ‘indivisibility of security of the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific region’ imposed by Westerners is intended to justify the emergence of alliance forces and infrastructure in Asia.”

The Quad, comprising the US, Australia, India, and Japan, emphasizes its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific. Meanwhile, AUKUS, an alliance between Australia, the US, and Britain, focuses on advancing nuclear-propulsion technology and high-tech weapon development.

Shoigu also held private talks with top Chinese defense officials and raised concerns about the US sharing missile launch technology with Japan and South Korea, suggesting it’s aimed at deterring Russia and China.

⁣VIDEO:
Before US Airstrikes on facilities used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran and Iranian-backed militia Groups in Syria, Iran’s foreign minister said the United States “won’t be spared” if attacks on Gaza continued.

While speaking at the United Nations in New York City, Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, “I say it frankly to American statesmen who are nominating the genocide in Palestine, We do not welcome expansion of war in the region, but I warn, if the genocide in Gaza continues, they won’t be spared from this fire.”

Following his comments, multiple US lawmakers called for the revocation of Abdollahian’s visa and expulsion from the US. White House national security spokesman John Kirby responded to these calls, saying, “The United Nations Secretary-General called a meeting at the foreign minister level… he’s the foreign minister of Iran… we are the host of the UN and we take that responsibility seriously. Do we particularly like the fact that he is on US soil? No, but unlike a lot of other countries, we take those responsibilities of those rules seriously. We are allowed him to come in to attend these meetings. We hope others at the UN take the opportunity to ask tough questions of him.”

⁣World News:
Following the Russian parliament’s decision to revoke the ratification of a nuclear test ban treaty, Russia’s military carried out annual drills simulating a nuclear strike.
⁣During the military exercise, state television displayed Putin monitoring the event through a video call with senior military personnel. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu highlighted that these drills, which encompassed launching ballistic and cruise missiles, were designed for “dealing a massive nuclear strike with strategic offensive forces in response to a nuclear strike by the enemy.” The drills did not involve nuclear weapons, but did use the delivery systems that would utilized in a nuclear strike.

While such drills are annual, Shoigu’s remarks emerge during escalating tensions between Russia and Western countries.

The drills come days after the upper house of the Russian parliament opted to rescind Russia’s approval of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), a treaty initially signed in 1996 and ratified by Russia in 2000. The bill now awaits the signature of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putin previously proposed the idea of withdrawing from the CTBT, pointing to the United States’ decision to sign but not ratify the treaty. After waiting 23 years for the US to ratify the treaty, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said, “Regrettably, no indications that the US is going to follow this path, and so we have no choice but to balance our position.”

What is the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty?
The Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty aims to prohibit nuclear explosions worldwide. However, its complete implementation remains stalled, with several nations, including the US, China, and North Korea, yet to ratify it into law.
