1000 BC King David started the country of Israel with Jerusalem as its capital. Rome (they were not Christians) invaded in and persecuted the Hebrews. Israel has been attacked many times over the centuries but not by Christians. The Crusaders were the first to wholesale murder Jews in the Crusades. The Spanish Inquisition in 1400s drove the Jews out of Spain. Oddly enough it was Franco of Spain that said that was the biggest mistake The Catholic Church ever made. He said as all the intelligence of the country left with the Jews.
